Introducing our Community Citizen of the Year Awards nominees!

⭐️ Young Community Citizen of the Year Nominee - Sarcha McLeod ⭐️ 

Sarcha is a young community member who is always willing to lend a hand. She seeks out every opportunity to support charity events, and volunteers her time by baking, cleaning, interacting with attendees, and ensuring the events run smoothly.

Sarcha is also a member of the NDHS Student Leaders 2025. She is always putting her hand up to look after people's animals and gardens while they are away and volunteers to help local community organisations in any way she can.

⭐️ Senior Community Citizen of the Year Nominee - Frances Morris ⭐️ 

Frances Morris, a very willing and active member in the Norseman community who always helping in the background. Her positivity and community spirit has earned her a nomination for the Senior Community Citizen of the Year Award!

A firm believer that volunteers and social groups are the backbone of smaller towns and that they need to be 'kept alive' as much as possible, Fran is a participant at the Ladies Craft Group, a member of the Norseman Historical Museum Association and a part of the Norseman Today Newspaper Group committee.

Fran is often found volunteering her time in any way she can. She is an active participate in a range of community activities and events, always contributing in whatever capacity she can. Being a part of a range of community groups and organisations she is often attending meetings, volunteering to assist in the events and keeping the community spirit alive.

⭐️ Community Citizen of the Year Nominee -  Doreen Peckham ⭐️ 

Doreen Peckham, a longtime resident of Norseman, and an inaugural member of the Norseman Historical Museum Association has been nominated for the Community Citizen of the Year Award.

Doreen, volunteers her time at the Norseman Historical Museum, her general and historical knowledge, is vast and she is always eager to share it with visitors of the museum. Utilising her skills Doreen continues to research the history of Norseman and the Shire of Dundas, compiling data and ensuring it is preserved for future generations to learn and appreciate.

Doreen has also taken on meeting the ever increasing genealogy requests that the museum receives. These come from past residents and visitors from around the state who have a family link to Norseman. The work is time consuming and the data is not always easily accessible, Doreen has taken these requests on and received exceptional feedback from everyone she has helped!

⭐️ Community Citizen of the Year Nominee - Paige Woods ⭐️ 

Paige Woods, an active member within the Norseman community, especially amoungst our senior citizens has been nominated for the Community Citizen of the Year Award!

Described as kind, honest and always putting others first, Paige provides support to pensioners both in community and in hospital to support them to live the best quality of life they choose.

Paige actively participates in community events, works closely with different agencies to provide opportunities to the whole community and engages with a variety of unique support teams to provide tailored outcomes for individual community members.

Recognised as a person who is always willing to pull up her sleeves, Paige's can do attitude and positivity flows throughout the community.

Join us in celebrating our Citizen of the Year Nominees at our Australia Day Community Breakfast on January 26th, from 8:30am at Marks Park. We hope to see you there! ☀️
