COMMUNITY NOTICE 

NORSEMAN IGA TRANSITION TO VILLAGE GROCER

The Norseman IGA will transition to Village Grocer in the coming months. This change is supported by Metcash, and with the Village Grocer supermarket model better suited to the supermarket's current infrastructure.

Additionally, a Village Grocer model will help the Shire respond to community feedback calling for a more personalised shopping experience. The transition will provide greater flexibility in store operations to better meet customer expectations and the needs of our unique location.

Importantly, the Shire of Dundas will continue to run a supermarket that supplies local residents, visitors to Norseman, families and businesses along the Eyre Highway with fresh food, and groceries.

Our partnership with Metcash remains strong, ensuring continued access to the supply chain while creating new opportunities to work with local suppliers. This shift will support existing suppliers and will strengthen relationships with regional businesses.

The transition aligns with the current budget while allowing for other Council strategic outcomes to progress, such as the Norseman town centre revitalisation. Council remains committed to local benefits including a stronger local identity, increased operational flexibility, and continued community initiatives.
